All About Goldie

DOG BOWLS | WATER DISPENSER | DRY SHAMPOO | SNACKS

I don’t know how it is at your house but my kids BEGGED us to get a dog…FOR YEARS! But with Braun leaving every summer for work, coupled with raising 4 really young kids…I mean, come on! I know I’m a pushover but I’m not into making my life more difficult!

On top of that, I had every mom telling me that I was the one who would end up taking care of the dog, not my kids, and I knew from owning them previously that dogs aren’t a walk in the park!

But as our kids have gotten older, more immersed in school, and really grown to love the neighborhood we live in, Braun and I decided that it was probably time to give the kids (and me) a break from leaving during our summers and it was time to add a child beast to the mix!

As you can imagine, chaos ensued and our family hasn’t been the same since. I’m literally fighting the urge to post 10,000,000 pictures of precious Goldie but I did include a few that I think you’ll love as much as we do!

A few months after bringing her home, we sent her to a 5-week training camp, Wasatch Canine Camp in Orem Utah. (still trying to figure out why they don’t have these for children?) But the separation was killer and I missed her more than I would probably miss my own kids. (haha! No, but really…)

It was soooooooo worth the investment! They broke all of her bad habits, finished potty training her and taught her all of the basics. I know that we would’ve been capable of handling that eventually but with our crazy schedules, I was more than willing to pay someone to do it quickly and effectively. And because I can’t stop showing adorable photos of her…

You guys have asked me a million times what we feed her, what we bathe her with etc, so I finally got around to compiling the list of everything Goldie! She is SO easy to please. She absolutely loves tennis balls or anything small and squeaky! And of course, you’ve seen her with her bully sticks (barf) and they’re all super easy to find!

As you all know, Braun is super OCD and you KNOW we weren’t about to have a stinky dog running around our house. We got Goldie used to getting in the tub and shower right from when she was a teeny puppy. She has grown to love the water and if you leave the shower door open on accident, you are sure to have a little buddy in there with you whether you want her in there or not..  she LOVES water!) . We use this shampoo and conditioner and keep her fresh throughout the week with a dry shampoo that’s made just for dogs! We give her a good brush out immediately after and try to blowdry her so she’s not running around the room wet!

Her favorite thing to eat is fresh dog food and we love this brand! It’s more than grabbing a bag off the shelf at the pet store but I guarantee that choosing something like this will keep your dog healthier longer. With PetPlate, you’re getting:

  •  Pre-portioned meals designed for your dog
  •  USDA meat and fresh fruits & vegetables
  •  Proprietary blend of vitamins and minerals
  •  Serving and storage instructions
  •  100% recyclable packaging

If you want to try it out for your pup, you can click HERE and use code TARA15 to get 15% off your first box! One thing we do on top of the food is give her 1 raw egg a day – it is Dash’s favorite “chore”… plus this keeps her healthy and her coat super glossy!

How big will she get? Our breeder from Murphy’s Doodles in Florida said that Goldie could fluctuate between 12 and 18 pounds. She is about 17 now and has really slowed down!

Would we do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Goldie is a firmly-cemented member of our family and we couldn’t imagine our home without her in it!

So check out the list below and if you have any questions about anything listed below or Goldie in general, leave it in the comments below and I’ll answer it the best I can!

We recently got a mini golden doodle and this post was so helpful, thank you! We’re having a hard time preventing him from matting and i know you mentioned you brush Goldie after she takes a bath, but is that enough to keep her from matting? Also, when we brush him, he turns into a little fluff ball.. how do you keep Goldie nice and curly??

We recently got a golden doodle, so this post was great, thank you! does Goldie’s fur ever mat? If so, how do you help prevent it? And how do you keep her hair curly? We brush our dog and he’s a little fluff ball. Haha

We don’t have any of those! She’s pretty good about coming and getting us or standing by the door. And she goes where I go so it’s hard to miss!
