How To Organize Your Jewelry At Home

Do you ever look at people’s houses and wonder where all the stuff is? Don’t get me wrong, I love the minimalist, modern look. But when it comes to my jewelry, I want to see it.

And if you’re wondering why you’re wearing the same 5 pieces of jewelry all of the time when you have more to choose from, you don’t wear what you don’t see.

It’s totally true!

Think of that back corner of your closet – do you even know what clothes are stashed back there? I’d bet a roll of toilet paper and a face mask that you don’t. My point is, if you want to wear what you own, you need to be able to see it. This goes for clothes, shoes, swimsuits, and most importantly, jewelry. So when we built our current home, I knew I wanted a space just for my jewelry.

DITCH THE SMALL JEWELRY BOX

I don’t dig traditional jewelry boxes for two reasons: They clutter up the surfaces of your bedroom, and they keep your jewelry in jumbled heaps that are almost always impossible to sort.

When I built out my space, I went for these acrylic pegs to organize my necklaces. My necklaces hang nicely, they don’t get tangled, and I can see each piece I have. It’s also a creative way to see if a stack of necklaces layers nicely when placed on the same peg!

Depending on the size of your space, you could easily hand 2 next to each other. These pegs would also work well for rings!

Lay It Flat

Another great way to store your family jewels is in felt-lined trays. Whether you a stash of your Madewell favorites (relatively inexpensive, timeless, and well made) or some boujee diamond pieces, setting up a segregated drawer for your precious cargo keeps your necklaces and bracelets and earrings separate and will make accessorizing much simpler. Also, say goodbye to scratches and tangles.

I have these large Stacker boxes but there are so many different types of these boxes! I love them because you can keep everything separate and free from scratches and tangling. And, many of them are customizable so you can layout your dividers to support the storage of your jewelry. Here are some of my favorites:

DON’T FORGET YOUR OTHER ACCESSORIES

If you’re a sunglass or glasses wearer, make sure you take storage for those puppies into account! I love storing mine in similar trays to my jewelry trays.

And if you use something like Stackers, they have. atray that fits in the stack!

THE LITTLE THINGS

And last but not least, I love having a shallow, patterned tray or dish on my nightstand or next to my sink to hold my everyday jewelry that I take off when I go to sleep. Having the dish there makes it easy to remember when I’ve forgotten something. Sometimes it’s just nice to take off everything when I go to sleep and have it ready for me to slip back on first thing in the morning. Anthropologie has a beautiful selection!
