My Favorite Workout Clothing

When it comes to workout gear, comfort is certainly key, but there’s also plenty of benefits to having an outfit that is both functional and that you don’t look awful in. After all, my workout clothing often has to go from the gym to school pickup, and without anyone the wiser, to business meetings.

I’m in my 30’s. I have 4 kids. I need comfort in my life!

But living 24/7 in workout attire is the clothing version of the messy topknot. We all know that your hair is dirty, or too long, or too frizzy, or your roots have grown out, but we are all going to accept it as fabulous because that’s the deal. But every 7-8 days I do actually wash my hair.

So do I live in workout clothes 24/7? No. But I could. I’m giving you a rundown of my favorite brands, favorite pieces, and how to stretch your dollar if $100 leggings aren’t in your budget!

BUDGET VS BOUJEE

I wanted to start by touching on budget real quick because a lot of workout clothes are EXPENSIVE. Not all of them, but a lot. Especially those highly coveted Lululemons. And it’s because they’re good. They hold you in, suck in the fat, come in 5,495 different colors, lengths, and fabrics, and are just pretty awesome. But there are also a lot of great brands that bring the same or similar value for a fraction of the cost.

If having the brand is important ( I get it, Braun will only wear Nike) I’ve got plenty of Lulu listed in this post that I LOVE! But if you’re open to branching out, I’ve included a lot of budget-friendly alternatives that I wear on the daily.

Like these pants (pictured above). Take a look at the same color in each side by side:

Honestly, you would never know which ones I had on if I were wearing these. If you are looking for affordable Lulu dupes, take a look at CRZ YOGA on Amazon. In fact, I purchased as many dupes as I could find and did this super thorough review:

Ignore the captions on the bottom for swipe-ups! I did this live for you guys on Instagram. If you’re not married to a brand-name, these are the best investment for your $$.

The Gap

TANKTOP | SPORTS BRA | LEGGING | WATCH

In addition to everything that Athleta has to offer, the Gap also offers a smattering of activewear that is mid-tier in quality and cost but is slightly more affordable than Lulu and Athleta, which is the Gaps higher-end brand that competes directly with Lululemon. But again, Gap has such a great collection of basics and on-trend must-haves.

Fabletics

If you’re looking for another really great wallet-friendly brand, Fabletics is where it’s at. If you’re a member (you should be, it’s FREE), you can get two pairs of leggings/pants/shorts for $24.99 total! Kinda insane! You’re basically unlocking 50% savings all the time.

SHORTS | LEGGINGSTANK TOP | PHONE CASE – use code ‘TARA10’ for 10% OFF 1 or ‘TARA15’ for 15% OFF 2 or more

The only thing you need to be aware of is that things sell out FAST  – so if you like it or think it’s something you may want, snag it. You could go back the next day and it will be gone forever – I’ve run into this more than once!

and can we talk about tanktops?!?

The ones above are some of my absolute favorites and available from Amazon for just under $8 each! They come in a pack of 3 and the colors are soooo good. The other tanks I’m currently obsessed with are these:

Let’s Talk Bras

BRA-LLELUJAH FULL COVERAGE BRA | WOMEN RACERBACK SPORTS BRA | WOMEN RELAX WIRELESS BRA

When it comes to over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders, you guys know I take them pretty seriously.

As should ALL women! You gotta protect those babies! They give life y’all – you can’t mess with that. I love the 3-pack from Mirity that makes them $6 each. They hold me in, come in a bunch of colors, and you seriously can’t beat the price!

ULTRABOOST

TANKTOP | SHORTS

I was going to post a bunch of shoes but the truth is, I really only wear one style of athletic shoe: the Ultraboost by Adidas. It has superior support, adorable styles/colors, and my feet don’t hurt EVER after wearing these things. They are spendy but totally worth the price tag!

What would I spend my money on? Shoes, of course! But I would have a hard time giving up my buttery-soft leggings and super comfy tanks. the thing about workout wear it’s just that: comfy, soft, and unusually kind to my thighs. And the type of uniform I want to wear in the afterlife due to sheer comfort.

Hopefully you feel the same!
