Gluten Free Sweet Potato Fries

MY TOP | MY JEANS | KNIFE | CUTTING BOARD | KITCHEN RUG | BLENDER

Do you have a favorite food that you could eat every single day and never get sick of it?  I’ve honestly eaten these sweet potato fries at least once a week for YEARS.  I never get sick of them!  I cut up a whole bunch of sweet potatoes and keep them in a ziplock in my fridge, so they’re ready to go when I want to make them.

If you’ve ever cut up raw sweet potatoes, you know how hard they are to cut.  These knives will make it SO much easier!  And if I’m making these sweet potato fries just for me, I put them in my countertop convection oven because they cook so much faster!

Gluten Free Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients

  • 3-4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fine sugar
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cut 3-4 medium sweet potatoes into wedges and arrange on a baking sheet.  In a small bowl, combine 2 tbs olive oil, 1 tbs fine sugar, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp kosher salt, and 1/4 tsp ground black pepper.  Whisk with a fork, and drizzle over sweet potato wedges.  Toss to combine, and until potatoes are completely covered in the chili sauce.  Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until tender when pierced with a fork.  Remove from oven, and let cool.

I made them just now, yum! We have sweet potatoes almost weekly too. Try this dip: mayo, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla extract- mixed together to taste. It’s like the vanilla bourbon from Iron Hill Brewery!

I just made these and they were really yummy! I loved the spices on them.. but i couldn’t get them crispy. It didn’t seem like they were cooked long enough and I could them longer than you said d cut them thin.

It totally depends on your oven. I cook them in a small convection oven and they work great at that time. But if you make them in a big oven, try cooking them a little longer. My goal is always to burn the edges a bit!

No, they don’t discolor! 🙂 I just put them in a ziplock with no water.

Do you leave the skins on?

I do, but you totally don’t have to. There is no nutritional value in the skins of sweet potatoes. It’s up to personal preference.
