Moms of girls… where you at? I swear in the mornings, we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off. It is pure chaos and I was determined to find a way to make it easier on myself and my kids in the mornings. This was one thing that made it 1,000 times easier on me. It isn’t rocket science for sure, but you’ll be so glad you did it.
Dedicate a drawer (or even just this container!) to hair supplies! Boys need their hair done too though so this can work for them too. I have 2 drawers just filled with hair things. Blowdryers, our favorite brushes, elastics, clips, hair gel, combs… whatever we are going to need, it is in the hair drawer. It makes it so nice to do their hair while they are distracted eating their cereal and it makes it so I am not running around the house like a crazy person. If you want to get real crazy (yes, I am real crazy!!) have a toothbrushing station near the kitchen as well. Trust me on this one, it’s such a time saver!
If you don’t have the space to dedicate a drawer in your kitchen to getting ready, I have a solution for you too! We call this the “hair box” and it comes with us when we travel & I keep one in my car for those last minute touch ups. It is the perfect size for a hair brush, combs, a spray bottle or leave in conditioner/hair gel plus all the accessories your little ladies need!
Here is what you will find in our hair box!
First off, the actual box is linked HERE. THIS squirt bottle fits perfectly. THIS detangler is great, I bought 100 of THESE(colored) and THESE (solid black) and it was possibly one of my greatest purchases ever (but plan on shipping taking awhile.. they take the slow boat from China), THIS comb is awesome. Perfect for parting the hair and smoothing it. THESE bobby pins are the greatest of all time…I promise, you won’t ever want Target or Wal-Mart ones again. THESE hair clips are super inexpensive ($5 for 4!) and they fit so much hair in them. THESE brushes are awesome and also super cheap. A travel bottle of hair spray. I get it from the Target travel section. Of course a bunch of scrunchies. THESE velvet ones are a favorite and THESE patterned ones are so cute too! Oh and I can’t forget about THIS little boys hair gel. It smells so good and works so well.
What is the color you used on your beautiful cabinets in this post??? Thanks so much
We do this too (sans hairdryer)! Even though there’s a half bath right around the corner, I like having it all where it’s easiest to access and use. We have the same stuff in the car too. Now I just need those little boxes and 10 or so replacement brushes!
This paint color is called Platinum Grey from Benjamin Moore! 🙂
Oh my goodness. We lose our brushes every dang day too!!
I love the hair box idea for travel. There’s always at least one hair thing I forget to pack!!
In the kitchen? There’s not a hygiene issue?
No, we are clean people. Why would there be a hygiene issue? I do their hair as they eat. If they happen to eat a hair, luckily its their own. 😉
Such a great and helpful post! Where did you get the flower elastic band container? So neat!
wal mart! 🙂 I think its cute too!
We have a hair drawer in our kitchen too and I wouldn’t be able to get the kids out the door without it!
Quick question- where are those colorful (almost neon) elastics in the last photo from? Are they silicone?
If so, do you like them? The coiled elastics stock in our hair and I don’t see how they are supposed to be easy to take out!!
Thank you!!
