When it comes to apps, you really don’t need that many. And every blog you read (mine included) usually only covers the essentials.
But that changes today.
Today, I’m showing you the 5 non-essential and underrated apps you need if you’re a mom on the go.
Saying they’re non-essential but that you need them is a bit of an oxymoron. But trust me. Would I steer you wrong?
RunPee
We’ve all been there, that point in the movie where you have to pee (if you’re a mom who’s given vaginal birth this is every time you sneeze, cough, or move). But how do you know when is the best time to sneak away for a bathroom break during a movie?
Fortunately, we have RunPee. Yes, this app actually uses the user-submitted information to let you know when the best time for a bathroom break is during popular movies playing in theaters. The math can be a little off from time to time, but for such a strange app, it works shockingly well.
You can even set a timer to vibrate to alert you of the next pee time coming up!
You don’t always know when you’re going to need this app, but you’ll probably be glad to have it for when you do.
InstAddr
Ever wanted to get some info from a website for your kid but before you can, they ask for your email, phone number, SSN, credit card number, and the life of your firstborn? (ok, a bit dramatic but you know what I’m talking about). This is where InstAddr comes in.
InstAddr is a temporary email service. It allows you to create an email address on the fly that you can actually use permanently if you so choose…or not. You can get the info you want but avoid spam, junk, and other annoying forms of communications that websites can’t seem to help but send out on a daily basis.

Flush
Your kid never has to go to the bathroom at home but the moment you step outside the door, all hell breaks loose. Of course, they didn’t have to go when you told everyone to go to the bathroom before you left…
So now you’re on the hunt for a public restroom that isn’t a complete nightmare. Flush is the dream solution to that nightmare.
Yes, Flush helps you find nearby toilets. It’s not the noblest function in the world, but it is a particularly useful one for most people. Besides, how can’t you love an app that not only locates nearby public restrooms but also shares how other users rated that bathroom?
Flush sounds ridiculous, but we’re willing to bet this underrated app is going to sound a lot less ridiculous the next time you actually need it.
GasBuddy
Gas is expensive. It’s the first thing you realize as a teenager when you finally get to drive and nothing changes as you slide into adulthood. When you need to fill up your car with gas, it is always wise to find the cheapest option. After all, every gas station might charge a different price for the same gasoline.
Even a few cents per gallon can really save up.
However, it takes a while to search for the cheapest gas. With the app known as GasBuddy, you will easily locate the cheapest gas in your area, which can save you money and time. Plus, you can earn free gas by completing challenges…I know, lame. But you know what’s not lame? Free gas.
Waze
You’re 5 minutes late to soccer and you know there is construction somewhere but you don’t remember exactly where the park is or the best way to get there. Waze might be one of the best apps for navigating traffic.
It’s got a ton of users who gather data about traffic conditions, help determine the best way to wherever you’re going, and tell you where cops are hiding out to snag the errant speeder. Not that you would ever speed…
And I’ve found that this is way more accurate than google maps and maps on an iPhone.
