Quick Girl’s Bedroom Makeover

When we built our home, we weren’t sure if it would be our forever home or not. That uncertainty helped us pick wall colors and finishes and everything in our house was done fairly neutral.

The neutral palette has allowed us to have fun and really choose fun pieces along the way as my kids have gotten older.

We move Jett and Dash into the same room last year and that was a smart move. They love sharing a room and spend more time out of it than in. That makes it easy to keep it to a minimal amount of furniture and colors.

With Emery and Anisten, it’s a totally different story. Every day, it feels like they’re personalities get a little more pronounced, and they’re personal styles more defined.

It shows up in the clothes they gravitate more towards, the hairstyles they like to wear, and the fun things that start to show up in their bedrooms that are important to them.

Almost everything we’ve done in their rooms to this point is temporary. They’re basically tiny teenagers and who knows what they’re going to like next!

But when Pottery Barn reached out about their assortment of Family Fair Trade products, we jumped at the chance to be able to update Anisten’s room with items that not only support communities around the world and impact the lives of 13,000 individuals by providing safe work environments and fair trade practices but that also give back to community development funds.

There were so many awesome options to choose from that Anisten had a hard time nailing down exactly what she wanted to do! Ultimately, we were able to choose things pulled together by her rug and wall.
