I get asked all the time about my skincare routine and it makes me laugh a little bit because I do not consider myself a skin care guru! But I do love a good pamper session and have made a bigger effort over the last couple of years to take better care of my skin. In fact, it’s something I’m definitely going to stress with Emery and Aniston because I think good, clear skin is ALWAYS in!
So I’m giving you my skincare in a 2-part series and for this first bit, I wanted to tell you about the PMD, what it is, and why it is now a staple in my skincare routine!
A couple of months ago I was invited down to the PMD offices here in Utah and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I had heard really good things about the PMD (Personal Microdermabrasion) and was seeing a lot of people showing how these worked. So I came home with this pink magic-skin maker, agreed to give it a try, and let you all know how I like it. The main thing I wanted to see is if I saw any major changes in my skin!
Well, I’m only a few months in and I gotta be honest…I LOVE IT! I’ve always considered myself to be pretty religious about my skin care and you have heard me talk about and seen my before and afters with facials etc. But this has really helped me in the in-between times. Whether you’re the girl getting facials once a week, once a month, once a year, or have never gotten one, this is the tool you should be using to get similar results.
K, first off, they come in a BAJILLION colors! And each kit comes with multiple heads that have different roughness or grit depending on your skin type. One thing I want to mention is to READ THE DIRECTIONS! There is even a video that shows you how to use this and it’s not a bad idea to check it out. I thought I would be a pro at this but it was a bit more difficult than I originally thought. It’s basically sucking up your skin into the head of the device and then running a disc over the skin that removes the dead skin cells and helps with cell turnover and skin rejuvenation. Which on my dry skin, has been AMAZING!
And if you aren’t going to watch the video, pay attention to this card in your box! You’re going to start out with the lightest grit disc and do exactly as the card above says! What’s nice is that because this does resurface the skin a bit so you are going to see the parts you’ve passed over turn a bit pink (this helps you see where you’ve missed!)
The other thing that required a little bit of work was the suction and just making sure I didn’t break it as I passed over the bones and curves in my face. I’ve got mine plugged in because you need to keep it plugged in to retain constant suction while using!
I’m only a few months in and I’m already seeing an improvement in my skin, my pores are getting smaller, and I’ve also read that it can help with acne scars, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. Like I said, I’m only a few months in but I can’t wait to give this a few more months and show you guys how my skin looks bare and up close! Like all skincare, it’s important that you give it the time it needs to do the work it’s supposed to do. You aren’t going to get clear skin after washing your face once and with this, you need to give it the proper time to really get through your dead skin buildup, have your skin go through a turnover cycle, and give it the time it needs to heal!
I’ll be giving you guys an update in a month or so and let you know if I’m still loving it (spoiler alert: I’m pretty sure I will!).
