Top Links: August

Doesn’t it feel like this year, so far, has gone by in a blur? I feel like the snow was just melting and my kids were just getting out of school. And now we’re just over 3 months away from Christmas.

Where did the time go?

We didn’t travel this summer and I feel like our wanderlust finally got the best of us. The result? Packing all of our travelings into the month of August and I am pooped. Oh, and I had the WORST 24-hour bug coming back from camping this weekend. We’re talking don’t leave the bed, throwing up every hour, sick-to-my-stomach flu!

And then it magically cleared up today and I’m feeling more myself.

Guys, I even somehow pulled off family pictures!

I’m feeling like superwoman!

Plus, all this traveling gave me the opportunity to do a bit of shopping. I was able to try out a bunch of stuff to review for you (I’ve been slacking in this department) and I love that guys have loved them as much as I have!

This month I got back to cooking and it feels good! I whipped up this gluten-free chicken pot pie and it was so stinking easy. This recipe is also really easy to make dairy-free and meat-free. And I made both because my sister is vegetarian (it does have chicken bouillon in it though that could be subbed for veggie bouillon!)  and Anisten is allergic to dairy. But it was super simple to swap out the butter and milk for non-dairy substitutes. We use Pamela’s Baking and Pancake Mix OR Namaste Flour in place of standard wheat flour! Honestly, I don’t know that anyone even knew I did something differently!

We went to Lake Tahoe in August and this was a super spur of the moment trip for us. Kids were going back to school soon and this has been a really stressful summer for both Braun and me and escaping was at the top of our to-do list. And we didn’t plan one detail of this trip. We totally winged this thing. In fact, we had no idea how long we were going to stay. But you guys came through and gave us so many good recommendations! We had the best food, the best time, and we can’t wait to go back.

I’ll be dropping part 2 of our trip sometime this month. It’s all about the Sequoias!

It’s back-to-school time and I can hear the cheers of parents everywhere cheering!

Listen, we LOVE our kids, right? Right!? We really do but it’s nice to go to the bathroom alone, sitting quietly for 20 uninterrupted minutes is completely underrated, and it’s one less meal a day that I’ve got to prepare for 6 people.

But this “vacation” from littles for a few hours doesn’t mean I’m sitting on my back porch soaking in the last few weeks of the summer sun. No, for me, it means a return to a more normal work schedule. And in August I shared my top 5 tips to help you reset your schedule and have a really successful week!

So check em out and then check out the list below of this month’s TOP links! I’m so glad that you guys loved my newest reviewed products as much as I do!!!
